Markel Castle Triathlon Series - North Yorkshire, Kent, Cheshire & Rep of Ireland (Since 2012-Present)
Triathlon is a huge growth sport in the UK, and the Markel Castle Triathlon Series is becoming a major part of the UK triathlon calendar.
The cycle stages, particularly as we extend to half and full Ironman distances, present huge logistical and safety issues for an organiser.
The Castle Tri Series now uses Community TM Ltd (CTM) to plan and execute all traffic management on all of our English-based triathlons (Hever, Castle Howard and Cholmondeley).
Once the Course is agreed, I am totally happy to leave the rest to CTM. They have fast-developed a genuine expertise in all aspects of traffic managing road-based sporting events, from inception to planning to managing the event, on the day.
The feedback from riders is that they feel safe and able to maintain their speed, without any compromise on safety.
The value-for-money that CTM offer is such, that we are entirely content in using this North Yorkshire-based Company's services, for events as far removed as Kent and Cheshire.

Otley Town Centre Races, West Yorkshire. (Since 2012-Present)
Rich and his team are just fantastic. We organise one of the biggest town centre cycle races in the country and being able to rely on Community TM for all things traffic just makes a massive difference to our ability to deliver a great event. They assist with liaising with the council, the police and British Cycling. They design and then manage the traffic management scheme we use on race day. And they implement a ruthlessly efficient road closure plan which efficiently and safely closes the roads before the event and then reopens them at the end of the night. Rich Houghton is real easy to work with, good humoured, enthusiastic, does what he says he going to do and knows who to speak to to get stuff done. He is now an integral part of our team and is one of the reasons why the Otley Cycle Races are now so big.
Giles Pidcock - Race Organiser
3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross, Ingleton, North Yorkshire. (Since 2013-Present)
Community Traffic Management has provided traffic management services to the 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross since 2012. Their support both during the preparation and planning stage and on race day has been invaluable.
CTM's qualified and experienced staff provided advice and suggested appropriate traffic control measures that have improved the safety of competitors, spectators and the public. Richard, Paul and their team attained all the necessary permissions and consents, thereby reducing the technical and administrative burden on the race organising group.
On race day, traffic control measures were implemented quickly and discreetly, and with no input from the race organisers; allowing our team to focus on the race itself. The manner in which the CTM team operated provided full confidence that all traffic related issues were addressed. Such reliability and dependability is critical when organising a major race such as the 3 Peaks.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the CTM team to other race and event organisers. Their experience and professionalism undoubtedly contributed to the success of the event, and we look forward to working together in future.
Mark Richmond,
Race Secretary,

North Yorkshire Evening Road Race League (cycle races). (Since 2013-Present)
"We have worked with Community TM for the past two seasons; prior to this we had the experience of having to move our annual road race into a different county, following one year of having to cancel it – after lengthy attempts to gain approval – at late notice. Community TM took on the process of seeking approvals and were able to use their knowledge of the process to unlock opportunities that we had been completely unable to. Working with them on individual events has been a pleasure. As Racing Secretary I have been encouraging new volunteers to take on event organisation and have been able to do this safe in the knowledge that planning and on-the-day liaison re traffic management and safety issues would be painless. As a rider too I’ve been able to experience first-hand the improved safety which comes from professional traffic management – the whole race feels safer from the inside. As a club we appreciate the working relationship which we have built up, and look forward to it continuing."

East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix, Spring 2017 & 2018 (professional cycle race)
The East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix was a project envisioned, designed, up-classified to an Elite Series race with British Cycling. From start to finish we had less than 5 months in which to create, engage a large area of East Cleveland to believe in the race, request interested local people to take on the role of race ambassadors (volunteer Marshalls) and ensure safety was paramount to residents, tourists and the riders in safely delivering a high quality elite bike race which encompassed traffic management delivery in 13 villages.
lkley Town Centre Races, West Yorkshire (Since 2015-Present)
Community Traffic Management have worked with me on our town centre cycle races since 2015 and have always provided an excellent service. Rich and his team have such a wealth of experience and immediately struck-up a good rapport with our contacts at the council, which has been invaluable during the preparations for the events.
From an organiser’s point of view, Community TM are the perfect partner, looking after the planning, submissions & liaisons with the council, the advance notice signage and (crucially!) ensuring that it all goes smoothly on the big day.
We have to close down a circuit in a busy town centre and the team from Community TM do this efficiently whilst still being respectful to residents returning home. On the rare occasions when there is the potential for a flash point, Rich’s team have the experience to defuse tensions yet still get the closure in place in a timely manner.
I had absolutely no hesitation in booking Community TM for our races again this year.
Knavesmire Harriers "Brass Monkey" Half Marathon, York. (Since 2012-Present)
Just a quick line to thank you and your team for all their hard work on Sunday, it was very impressive and very much appreciated.
You certainly helped to make the preparation easy this year, where we could just leave you to get on with the notifications to local councils, applications for road closure, communicating with the local Safety Action Group and the erection of road closure signage. I think the coordinators agreed that it was the smoothest the race had gone for many years.
We found your team extremely helpful and professional in all ways and received excellent feedback from the club marshals who worked in close conjunction with your team at the various manned junctions.
We look forward to working with you again next year.

Malton Santa Fun Run, North Yorkshire. (Since 2013-Present)
"Community Traffic Management were involved from the outset in a number of different aspects of the inaugural Malton Santa Fun Run, from the initial planning of the route, road closure application, preparation of Risk Assessment and comprehensive Event Manual, to traffic management and briefing of marshals on the day. The event quite simply could not have happened without Richard and Paul’s help and encouragement and offered excellent value for money given the amount of work they did. I would highly recommend their services."

Harrogate St Georges Day Parade, North Yorkshire. (Since 2013-Present)
"After a number of years' of Harrogate Scout & Guides not actually marching on the streets for their Annual St George's Day Parade, in 2013, it was decided that this had to change, and Community Traffic Management were taken on to quite simply make this happen.
From the outset, their approach was "can do", rather than "too difficult", working their way around any issues which cropped up in a professional manner, ensuring that a plan which would be accepted by the Highways Department was submitted. Throughout the negotiation phase with the Council, they kept us regularly updated so that I personally had total confidence in their plans and ability to carry them out.
On the day itself, Rich & Paul excelled in briefing the volunteers we supplied to man the road closures and dealing with all traffic issues leaving myself, as Parade Marshal, to deal with the many questions from thehundred of Scouts, Guides, Leaders and Parents who attended.
In simple terms, Rich & Paul do "exactly what it says on the tin", and I have no hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending them, even though they all wear XXXL Hi-viz...."
Phil Scurrah, Event Organiser
North Yorkshire Moors Railway “Railway in Wartime” Weekend. (Since 2011-Present)
“Community Traffic Management services were employed in 2011 to help deal with the growing pressures and demands of the Railway in Wartime event on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the town of Pickering. The event attracts approximately 60,000 visitors to the market town of Pickering throughout the three day event and Community Traffic Management were able to provide a one stop shop for all the NYMR’s traffic and event management needs and concerns.
The involvement of Community Traffic Management has helped to co-ordinate and integrate the parades throughout the town and to raise the safety standards of this popular event. Community Traffic Management have always provided the highest level of service and commitment to the NYMR throughout my time as Marketing Manager. They are highly efficient and deal with all our enquiries and issues in a prompt and professional manner. Their commitment, common sense approach and friendliness are why we would highly recommend working with them on future events and projects.”
Danielle Ramsey, Marketing Manager, North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR).
Royal Marines Rehabilitation Triathlon - RMCTC Lympstone, Devon. (Since 2013-Present)
I had worked with Rich and the team from CommunityTM prior to organising the Royal Marines Rehabilitation Triathlon, an event for injured service personnel and veterans. When I was advised that the event required a traffic management company I had no other intention than to ask Rich and his team for their involvement. Their high levels of professionalism, experience and character make them extremely good value for money in an area of the race which provided the most risk to our competitors. Their communication and knowledge of managing high risk areas made me feel at ease as the event organiser knowing the the safety of already injured service personnel was taken care of. I would recommend Rich and his team to anyone, you will be hard pushed to find a company such as CommunityTM.
Sgt Mo Morris (RMCTC Lympstone)
Proms Weekend at Castle Howard. (Since 2014-Present)
Richard and his team at Community TM are an absolute pleasure to work with. Community TM helped to deliver a new traffic management system for two outdoor concerts at Castle Howard with the greatest of ease for the management team and public attending the event. Handling every aspect from Highways Traffic Orders to signage within the car parking areas, they were the 'go to' company for expertise. I would have no hesitation in recommending Community TM and I look forward to working with them in the future.
Stockton Duathlon Festival, Helvellyn Triathlon (2017 onwards)
Over the years TriHard Events have staged many events that have required road closures and traffic management. Until CTM were recommended to us this often proved to be a troublesome process. On one occasion A particular Plant company even closed the wrong road some 20 miles away. This resulted in a delay in the start of our event.
No such worries with CTM, I have always found them to be incredibly easy to deal with and whoever you speak to has an immediate grasp of your requirements. I have also used CTM operatives to assist with more general marshalling duties, the personnel supplied have always been well briefed and skilled in politely dealing with participants and members of the public.
I do not intend looking for an alternative traffic management provider. I wholeheartedly recommend Community Traffic Management.

York Pride Parade, North Yorkshire. (Since 2017-Present)
York Pride Parade has seen significant growth in the last few years, as such we needed to find a company who could help in making it a safe, enjoyable and reasonably stress free event to plan and execute. I was directed to Community Traffic Management and swiftly received contact back.
Rich got to work planning the road closures, signage and liaising with the local Police and Council etc allowing us to focus on other parts of the parade. Any issues which came along were dealt with quickly and extremely professionally.
On the day of Pride we were extremely confident and with the help of Rich and his colleagues we ended up executing the smoothest parade to date. Rich briefed our volunteers and supplied us with extra manpower for road closures we added to keep public safety a priority.
I’d happily recommend Community Traffic Management to any organisation or event looking for a professional, affordable and passionate team to work alongside them and make their lives substantially easier

Vale of York Half Marathon (2014-Present) / 10-mile (2016-Present) / Eccup 10 (2015-Present)
We started working with Community TM in 2014 for the first Vale of York Half Marathon. I’d worked with other TM providers before, but had been left underwhelmed, at best. From the word go, Rich was a breath of fresh air. With a clear, efficient and authoritative approach, I immediately felt that traffic management was now one less thing I would need to worry about at our events.
